Carter Steinmann LM, CPM

Carter Steinmann is a Licensed Midwife (LM) in the state of New Mexico and a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) through the North American Registry of Midwives. She is a graduate of National College of Midwifery, and holds a B.A. in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality studies from Mills College.

Carter has been a full-spectrum birthworker for 11 years. She trained with midwives in both small homebirth practices and busy birth center settings in Maine, California, New Mexico, and Oregon. Her experiences have cultivated a foundation of trust in the body’s innate ability to grow, birth, and heal, as well as solidified a deep respect and passion for evidence based practice within a relationship based model of care.

Carter finds it to be a privilege to get to support and witness clients through such a big, vulnerable life transition. She is especially committed to working with queer and trans families across all reproductive experiences (including with pre-conception care and in-home inseminations).

Carter works with families in the Albuquerque area, and Lucy works with families in the Santa Fe area.
